It's not really a blog, more a stream of sometimes salient, occasionally amusing, mildly relevant milestones in our journey through eDemocracy.
The last date for sending us your election requests is this Friday, the 23rd.
This ensures those we do invite have enough time to respond and take part effectively.
Many thanks.
Votewise is a superb idea, run by a couple of average Joe's in an office in Brighton. It isn't sponsored by government or parties or anyone with tons of money. Crucially it doesn't list every election and automatically invite all of the participants because there is no central place where all local elections are listed - crazy huh?
If you would like us to list your local election you simply need to tell us about it, preferably as soon as possible and then, if you're feeling super helpful, send us the Notice of Persons Nominated when the council release it. We need this document because it's the only thing that has all of the candidates and their addresses so we can send them all an invite in the post.
Other things you can do to help include:
Telling the council Electoral Services Department that we're doing this and they should give us a ring and link to us.
Prodding all of your local candidates to take part - remind them it's free and impartial.
Tell all your friends that we're doing it, blogs, leaflets - whatever you can manage.
Don't ask us to list all of the elections that your council is running, we need someone on the ground driving each election. If you want all of your parties elections listed you need to contact them first and get at least one from each ward to volunteer.
Become a volunteer now, here: Volunteer Now.
Thanks
As we're not getting involved in General Election campaign directly we're keeping an eye out for useful services that can help candidates and constituents throughout the next few weeks.
We recently attended the launch of this years Votematch tool (last year they released a version for the European elections).
As they say: "Vote Match is designed to help you with detemining your voting preference for the UK General Election."
So, if you are wondering who to vote for on the 6th May, spend a few minutes answering some quick questions at: http://www.votematch.org.uk/
It's all anonymous as we think it's a great way to find out which party is best aligned with your views.
Enjoy, and spread the word!
We have had a number of calls from candidates who are standing in forthcoming elections that have not yet received their login details, I just want to clarify the situation.
Pins on the map that are transparent and not click-able represent campaigns that we are aware off, but do not yet have the statement of nominated persons.
Pins on the map that are click-able have confirmed candidates and invitations have been posted.
Invites are posted to all candidates 2nd class, to the addresses they provided when they registered.
So, if your pin has been click-able for a couple of days and you haven't received your login details yet, it may have been delayed by the postal strike.
If this is the case, please drop us an email and we'll reply with your details.
Is your local election listed? If not why not?
A LOCAL service for LOCAL people!
Why aren't we running the Euro elections?
That's a wrap on 4th June 2009 campaigns.
