Question ... 'How would you stop the rampant fraud and corruption in Britain?' |
Jill said ... 'Is there rampant fraud and corruption in Britain? Fraud is a difficult area to police as fraud investigations take considerable time to complete and trials can last a significant amount of time. Jury's of "ordinary men and women" are often unqualified to understand the detailed legal and fijudicial issues being put before them.' [Report Post] |
Question ... 'Hi
Do you think MPs should get an extra £24,000 per year to fund a second home?
' |
Jill said ... 'No.
Of course MPs should receive proper remuneration and, because all our MPs from all over the country are required to meet in London - often late at night and not working fixed hours - it is important that MPs are provided with assistance to cover their expenses of maintining accomodation in London. But the current arrangements are wrong because they go beyond the repayment of legitimate expenses and move into the area of personal enrichment.' [Report Post] |
Question ... 'I wish you all well and thank you for using your right to stand as a candidate.
Who ever wins can you push for the dealth penalty please. Or at least allow the population the right to a referendum on the death penalty.
If you need a hangman I would be willing as this would cut the prison population by a thrid and save money.
' |
Jill said ... 'The evidence from America shows that "death row" inmates cost considerably more than life-term prisoners as those condemned to death are allowed considerable opportunities to appeal - such is necessary to prevent the ultimate miscarriage of justice. So to say the death penalty is a way of saving money is wrong in fact; it is also wrong morrally - the decision to end a person's life must never be taken on cost grounds.
There are arguments for and against the death penalty - the biggest argument against it is that it takes away the opportunity for repentance and forgiveness - two things that I beleive are very important.' [Report Post] |
You can no longer ask Jill questions as this election has past.
